Quote Of The Week

“Question the default” - Arnold Schwartzenegger

I like my dose of Arnie wisdom.

How Long Does It Take To Become Successful?

Listened to Cal Newport’s podcast during the week called “The 10-Year Rule”

It was good to be reminded of so many 10 year plus “overnight” success stories!

I enjoy hearing the success stories of others - both in terms of how long it took them, their struggles and the ever changing finishing line of what success actually meant for them.

Here it is

Contemplating My Unique Value In A Few Words To You

“Helping you to see and stay ahead!” - this is my short sharp UVP.

In longer form I came up with this.

Either way it was a hard thing to try and reflect my value to others in writing - and succinctly.

A Few Things That Resonated With Me This Week

  1. The real world is complex, imperfect and unpredictable, - the need to be reminded and accept the reality of this.

2. Don’t over think it, just get on with it - enough planning and thinking it all out, just get on with it!

3. The need to feel to say yes to everything - the reality and enormity of the amount of things that need to be done, and learning to say no more liberally.

What Am I Watching Closely?

The futurist (and optimist!) in me will be looking at what comes out of the United Nations Summit Of The Future being held at the UN in New York next week.

To quote directly “The Summit of the Future will produce an inter-governmentally negotiated, action-oriented Pact for the Future with chapters on Sustainable development and financing for development; International peace and security; Science, technology and innovation and digital cooperation; Youth and future generations; and Transforming global governance”.

Big important things at a critical time in history.

All eyes on it to see what comes out of it.

Let’s see what happens.

Next Book Up On The Reading List

This is next up - quite simply because I like its focus on the now, as well as embracing your imperfections.

It is by Oliver Burkeman.

He previously wrote “4000 Weeks - Time Management For Mortals”.

This one is called Meditations For Mortals

Looking forward to reading it.
