Is AI Your Friend?
Business leaders (and frankly all of us) should treat AI as a friend and crucial ally, not as a foe or competitor.
By automating routine and repetitive tasks, AI can create efficiency whilst it also liberates human talent to pursue more complex, creative, and strategic opportunities, and opens up valuable avenues for innovation and higher-level problem-solving.
Recognising AI as a tool for augmenting human capabilities is essential.
In my view, it should be treated as a side-by-side smart companion.
Avoiding or demonising the use of AI runs the risk of leaving businesses behind in a rapidly advancing technological world.
Investing in workforce upskilling ensures workers understand AI, integrating it into their work to boost productivity and innovation. Having it there, next to them, side by side, open and ready, as they do their next task, is a good tip for workers to learn how to use AI day to day.
Embracing AI is key to unlocking new horizons of growth and securing a competitive advantage.
While some opponents argue that this could automate routine tasks and potentially replace human talent, the strategic integration of AI complements and enhances higher-level smarter human capabilities, leading to a more innovative and efficient future.

It’s Hard Being A Leader In These Times
I recently listened to Florian Hoffman on the Meet The Leader podcast and his insights truly resonated with me.
Florian Hoffmann is a prominent social entrepreneur and the founder of The DO, an organisation aimed at empowering entrepreneurs and leaders to create positive change through innovative and practical solutions.
In the podcast, he articulated the rapid and exhausting pace of change we're all experiencing, echoing many of the sentiments I've shared of how hard it is to be a leader in these turbulent times.
Hoffman asserts that the era of command-and-control leadership is over. He also says that companies can no longer afford to stay neutral when it comes to societal issues. Accordingly he sees agility, empathy, and the ability to instil trust and security amongst your people as crucial. He also emphasises the importance of authenticity and openness, suggesting that modern leadership is now more akin to running inclusive movements than traditional organisations.
His ideas are both fascinating and thought-provoking, offering valuable perspectives for anyone navigating today's dynamic environment.
Definitely worth a listen!
I also recently listened to a podcast featuring Brad Smith, the President of Microsoft, where he candidly discussed his leadership approach over many years, particularly during challenging and uncertain times.
He emphasised when managing large groups of people the importance of letting go of control, not micromanaging and trusting your team.
His advice also as a leader to read widely, listen to podcasts, and remain curious struck a chord with me.
Frankly I found myself agreeing with nearly everything he said.
I highly recommend his podcast, especially for leaders and managers.
What Time Do You Wake Up?
I read this article at 5am-ish one morning and chuckled.
What time do you wake up ?
Does waking up early make a difference to the rest of your day?
I am a morning person.
Regardless of whether you are or not, for me it is about getting those few golden hours in with myself, to do the things that truly matter - be it going to the gym, walking or working on a special project.
Thinking Of Retirement Soon?
A recent LinkedIn poll I conducted showed that 79% of professionals prefer some form of work/life integration over a hard stop retirement. So transitioning is a key thing.
We dedicate so much time to studying, building our careers, and maximising our performance, yet we rarely focus on how to transition to the other things we want to do in life. Post pandemic the work/life divide has changed so much and when it comes to more work/life balance it is skewed more to the latter than ever.
There is a noticeable lack of discussion and resources on how to gradually transition from a full-time professional career.
With this in mind, we have created a short coaching program designed to give people the confidence and support they need to take the steps toward retiring on their own terms.
Take a look at it and let me know what you think?

13 Years Of Marketing Lessons In 85 Minutes
In any organisation, from the CEO down to the person behind the reception desk, everyone should know how to market and sell the products and services that it delivers.
This concept isn't new, yet many of us struggle to find the time to do it regularly or effectively, often due to a mix of valid and less valid reasons.
Marketing is undeniably challenging.
It can feel like a hit-and-miss effort, and gauging ROI can be equally difficult and hit-and-miss.
However, it's essential to never stop marketing, even when a business is thriving.
Alex Hormozi's insights on marketing are particularly relevant I find. His practical, straightforward approach offers valuable lessons that resonate with me.
Consistency over perfection and value-driven content are key to effective marketing as is the importance of really understanding and selling to your audience.
I think he is really on point with this YouTube video.
I hope you pick up a few things of your own.

A Few Interesting Quotes
“Ideas at first considered outrageous or ridiculous or extreme, gradually become what people think they have always believed.”
- Maria Popova
“There is a hidden cost to everything we own - mentally - a subconscious mental burden”. “Don’t let things we own end up owning us”.
- Ryan Holliday
Do You Time Block?
I time block my tasks each day to try and stay organised and focused, balancing it between being too rigid and too flexible.
When I have important tasks to do, I prioritise 1-2 of them early in the day and try to pencil out what the rest of the day may look like.
This approach keeps me focused without feeling oppressed. I also batch my administrative duties and always make time for a coffee break, lunch, and some exercise to maintain my energy levels.
I find that not time blocking on weekends (even if I am working) allows me to recharge and return to work refreshed better.
Cal Newport a productivity expert recently did a podcast on the pros and cons of time blocking and whether it is oppressive!
It is well worth a listen.
